Brief overview of project
A comprehensive topographical survey was conducted at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre—a flagship destination for mountain biking in the UK—to facilitate the complete redesign and expansion of its existing pump track.
To support the track designer and construction team in delivering an optimized, modern track.
Key Objectives & Deliverable Highlights
- Precision Tree Mapping: Recorded accurate tree trunk locations, stem diameters (DBH), canopy drips, and Root Protection Areas (RPAs). This ensured zero disturbance to critical root systems and compliant design surrounding mature woodland.
- Existing Track Levels: Captured high-density spot heights along existing crests, troughs, berms, and surrounding terrain.
- Deliverables: Delivered fully layered 3D .DWG CAD drawings.
Key Outcome
The survey provided the track designer with the critical baseline data needed to maximize flow, safety, and rider engagement while preserving the sensitive natural environment of the Forest of Dean.
